GOOD TO KNOW

Prepare for your first appointment

A little preparation helps the office understand your needs and guide your visit.

01

Complete your forms

NexHealth is used for online new patient forms. Follow the instructions provided by your office and ask for help if you need it.

02

Bring your information

Have your current medication list, relevant health history, and insurance information if applicable. Ask the office whether any other documents are needed.

03

Tell us what matters

Share your concerns, previous dental experiences, and comfort needs. Let the office know about pain when arranging your visit.

04

Discuss insurance & payment

Medicaid is accepted at all offices. Confirm your exact plan and ask about estimated costs, payment options, or membership.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

First-visit questions

Answers to common questions before your visit.

How do I book my first appointment?

Choose your preferred office and use its booking link or call the office. If you are unsure which appointment to choose, describe your concern when you call.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Bring a photo ID, current insurance or Medicaid details, a medication list, relevant medical history, and any dental records you already have. Ask the office which forms to complete beforehand.

Should I transfer records from my previous dentist?

Tell your new office about recent dental records or X-rays. The team can explain what would be useful and how to arrange a transfer with the appropriate authorization.

What happens at a first appointment?

The team reviews your health history and concerns, assesses your dental needs, and explains recommended next steps. The exact examination, imaging, and treatment depend on your appointment and clinical needs.

Will a cleaning or treatment happen at the same visit?

It depends on the appointment booked, the assessment, and available time. Ask the office what your first appointment includes instead of assuming all treatment will be completed that day.

Can I bring my child for a first dental visit?

Yes. Our offices provide family and pediatric dental care. Tell the office your child’s age, needs, and any concerns when arranging the appointment.

What if I feel nervous about dental care?

Tell the office before your appointment and discuss your concerns with the dental team. Ask about the approach and any options appropriate for your care.

Can I get help with an urgent concern as a new patient?

Call the office and describe your symptoms. Urgent appointment availability varies; the team can help identify the next step. For trouble breathing or swallowing or a serious injury, seek emergency medical care.

How do I change or cancel my appointment?

Contact the office that booked your visit as soon as you can. Ask about its scheduling and cancellation policies.

Ready for your first visit?

Choose an office and book online, or call with questions about your appointment.
